Sepulchra jewelry is almost exclusively constructed of brass and 14kt gold filled for the metal aspects, along with Swarovski crystals, natural gemstones and freshwater pearls. To keep your jewels in good condition, it's generally best not to wear your jewelry when showering or swimming, and to polish with a soft cloth occasionally.
14KT GOLD FILLED
What is gold-filled? Gold-filled is real, 14 karat gold bonded to a core of base metal (usually brass). It is durable, and can last a lifetime. Above all, it is great for sensitive ears and it does not tarnish or require polishing! It’s a best practice to keep your jewelry away from chemicals/ oils/ perfumes/ water, and to polish with a soft cloth as needed to remove smudges/fingerprints. Gold-filled is more expensive than brass or gold plated, which makes sense given how much more real gold is involved with gold-filled. I feel the higher price is well worth it considering how much more durable and long lasting gold-filled is.
BRASS
As a general rule, avoid wearing jewelry in water or when showering. Avoid oils, perfumes and lotions, and put your jewelry on last if applying lotions, perfumes, etc. Brass does darken over time in the same way sterling silver does, giving it more of an antiqued look. If you wish to bring back the bright shimmer, simply polish gently with a jewelry polishing cloth. Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, so please note: For some people, the copper can react with the sweat from your body and turn your skin green. It is not harmful, and can be washed off with soap and water
